高校卒業後に単身渡米。
サンディエゴ州立大学で映画製作を学び、
2005年からロサンゼルスでカメラマンの仕事を始める。
友人の紹介でインドで撮影する機会を得、米印を行き来するように。

2014年のインド映画「メアリー・コム」で
ボリウッド（インド映画）には珍しく自然光を生かして、
手持ちカメラを使った繊細かつリアルな映像が高く評価され、
インド映画界で一躍有名になる。

映画「メアリー・コム」は
人気女優プリヤンカー・チョープラーが
ボクサーのメアリー・コム（東京五輪にも出場している）を演じたヒット作。

ボリウッドでは唯一の外国人女性撮影監督。
それも5年でトップに上り詰めたという実力の持ち主で、
現在も数多くのヒット作に携わり続けている。
また、多くのトップスターが出演するCM制作も手掛け、
その構図や色使いに高い評価を得ている。
2021年ニューズウィーク「世界が尊敬する日本人100」に選ばれ、
WOWOWでもドキュメンタリーが制作される。
